Beer #25 - Baylands / Enforcer

Beer #25 - W/C 17 August 2015

BREWERY //

Baylands Brewery is named after the the Wellington street where Aiden, Steve & Nikki started brewing in a double garage back in late 2012. Their kegged beers quickly gained popularity and more than a few awards along the way. They have only recently started putting their beer into cans and bottles. Having outgrown the garage, Badlands is now based in a warehouse in Petone from where they also run a brew store. The Baylands team love making good beer and sharing their knowledge and passion with home-brewers. We're looking forward to paying them a visit next time we're in Petone.

TASTING NOTES //

Black IPA's are a pretty new style, having first being made commercially in 1990. We can't remember drinking one before 2010 though. Traditionally either malts or hops will take the lead in a beer but Black IPA's let both share the limelight. The American hops in Enforcer provide bitter pine and citrus flavours. The roasted malts give rich cocoa and coffee notes to this well-rounded beer.
