BREWERIES // Shigeo, Jordan and Dylan were young Wellington beer enthusiasts who got together to drink and to brew collaboratively. It was pretty much inevitable that Funk Estate Brewery would grow from this friendship and shared love of beer. Four years later they are doing what they set out to do- "pleasing crowds without being a typical crowd-pleaser".
Doctor's Orders is a 'Cuckoo Brewery' based in Sydney and they're specifically focussed on producing beers in interesting historical or rare styles, often incorporating unexpected ingredients. New Zealander Darren Robinson is 'The Doc' and you can watch a great interview about his story HERE.

TASTING NOTES // Dr Funk is a collaborative beer from Auckland's Funk Estate and Doctor's Orders in Sydney. It was first brewed for Beervana 2015 and this is the second cycle with amped up flavours. It is a seriously refreshing and tart beer. The citrus of the yuzu and Persian black lime compliments the bitterness of the Motueka hops and also adds to the citrus notes already present in that hop. Dr Funk is not the sourest of ales, instead it balances bread-y sweetness and lime tartness very well.

Watch the video below to hear Dylan from Funk Estate talk about the beer.
