BREWERY // Brothers Josh and Jake Uljans and Karl van Buuren started Moon Dog in 2010 with a plan to brew “Really Ridiculously Fun Beer”. Their original Melbourne brewery was built up bit by bit with the help of eBay. Still proudly independent, they have seen huge growth in the past few years but retain their original spirit. Their first brew kit is now used for small seasonal brews in their brewery bar while a shiny big kit next door is used for most of their beers. At the end of 2019 they opened a gigantic 1 hectare brewery with a lagoon, rainforest and secret tiki bar named Moon Dog World and we are excited about going back to now our Tasman bubble has opened.
Run The Jewels are an American hip hop supergroup of rapper Killer Mike and rapper/producer El-P and are widely regarded as some of the most innovative and important artists working in the genre. They are deeply involved in politics and philanthropy. They have also worked on dozens of unexpected creative collaborations with breweries, computer game companies and cannabis growers.
Both Moon Dog & Run The Jewels have a deadly serious approach to their art and to social issues without being po-faced and are the first to laugh at themselves.
BEER // As part of their worldwide series of Run The Brews collaborations, RTJ partnered with Melbourne beer legends Moon Dog to create their only Southern Hemisphere beer. No Save Point is a Hazy IPA which, as you would imagine, is packed with a mix of Australian and American hope - Amarillo, Galaxy & Strata. Bold citrus peel and tropical fruit aroma set up your palate for a juicy beer that does not disappoint. Flavours are tropical and we get some guava and pineapple notes in there. While it has the smooth, round body you expect in a Hazy IPA, it has a little more bitterness than some with some dank pine-y hoppiness that balances the whole beer out nicely. Like all hop-forward beers, this never-to-be-repeated brew is definitely best drunk as quickly as possible but save the can as it's sure to become a collector's item.
