Beer #210 - Hot Water / CoroBlanc

Beer #210 - W/C 4 March 2019

BREWERY // The competition is stiff but Hot Water Brewing are certainly in the running for New Zealand's most scenic location. Farmers Don and Dawn Walker had the idea to turn part of their Coromandel farm into a holiday park with a lodge, camp sites and cabins back in 2005 and a restaurant and brewery seemed like natural progressions. As well as the tourism and hospitality operation, they are still farming beef and dairy cows alongside avocado and a kiwi orchard. So it's a good job they have brewer Tom van Deelen (formerly of Galbraith's) running the brewery. He embraces the creativity, science and technical precision of brewing.

BEER // Summer isn't over yet. And CoroBlanc was designed very specifically for Kiwi Summertime drinking. It's light, low-ish in alcohol, packed with flavour and very smash-able. Hot Water took inspiration from the Summery-ist wine - Sauvignon Blanc. No grapes were used in the brew but they cleverly infused elderflowers and hops that would specifically replicate the characteristics of the wine style. You may determine white peach and passionfruit flavours. A touch of wheat was used in the mash for body. It'll go down fast so remember to jot down your tasting notes before it is gone...

Check out what brewer Tom has to say about CoroBlanc in the video below.
