McLeod’s. Good Vibrations. 8.4%
It’s common knowledge that McLeod’s do everything well but their hoppy beers are especially special. The brew team pulled out the stops for Good Vibrations piling in fiscally irresponsible amounts of delicious dank hops that were designed for WCIPAs - Simcoe, Citra & Idaho 7. It’s a piney blast of that dank resinous taste that made you fall in love with beer all those years ago. There are also delicate lemon and citrus aromas atop the rich malty body with a long bitter finish. With an astounding 4.17 rating, this is the highest scoring Double IPA on Untappd. Of course, you wouldn’t let a bunch of tickers on the internet make up your mind for you - try it yourself.
Epic. Armageddon. 6.66%
You’ve had this before and you loved it so imagine how good this batch tastes. It was canned on 21 Feb and went straight into our chiller at Beer Jerk Towers. Some might say it’s the pinnacle of the IPA brewers art. Armageddon has been honed and perfected over many years, scooping up awards since it won the trophy at the first ever Malthouse WCIPA Challenge. It’s heavily hopped with those iconic American ‘C’ hops - Cascade, Centennial. Columbus plus Simcoe.
Lakeman. Buzz Me. 8.4%
Lakeman have been releasing a steady stream of delicious IPAs since they opened on their Taupō sheep and beef farm in 2013. The secret to their beers is the bore water that burbles up from their land. Citra and Eukanot give this DIPA plenty of tropical fruit, stonefruit and citrus character plus there's the mysterious NZH-105 hop. This is one of the 'Bract' series of hops from NZ Hops that brewers have been trialling and experimenting with over the past few months. Buzz Me is a beautiful fresh IPA brewed with local honey which gives it light body, a dry finish and a unique character.
