Staff Picks - MAY - 12 Beer Mixed Case
Every month our staff dig through our chiller to find a great selection of interesting beers for you. This box contains a mixture of different styles and breweries that we're digging at the moment.
For May, Beer Jerk founder Brent has put together a range of beers he's calling "Some for now, some for later". This selection includes some to chuck straight into a glass this weekend, and some to sit on and save for the chilly winter months which are just around the corner.
When Brent isn't putting together incredible beer selections for you lucky people you can find him knee deep in spreadsheets in his high seat atop Beer Jerk Towers doing the thankless work of keeping the business ticking along and all the other jerks who work here in line.
May's Box Includes:
Brewed with juicy Maris Otter malts and loaded with those big name US hops; Centennial, US Cascade and Amarillo, with a touch of relatively new Idaho 7. Characters include floral, citrus, pine and a touch of black tea.
Double Vision - Naughty Hopper
Meet the bunny that gets the party started. Think Lola. She packs a mouthful of tropical fruit flavours and knows how to kick it with the best of us. Late additions and awkward positions. 8.9%. That’s what you’re after, isn’t it?
Vocation - Smash n Grab
Smash & Grab is a big in-your-face hop-splosion of juicy tropical resinous deliciousness. There is nothing subtle about this American style DIPA. Heaps of juicy, dank hops bring to mind papaya, grapefruit, pineapple and pine in aroma and flavour.
Juice Head - Renegade
Breaking the mold by bringing it back to basics, sometimes the simplest things stand out the most. Simple, refreshing and delicious.
Abbey - Kolsch
Abbey's take on the style is more flavoursome than traditional Kölsches. Motueka & Yakima Gold hops were used liberally late in the brew and for dry hopping, which gives lime flavours and aromas of lemon and grapefruit.
Brave - Bottle Rocket
World famous in Hastings. Bottle Rocket is a soft, aromatic APA that celebrates the Simcoe hop and its delicious tropical, citrusy and piney notes. A pale ale with that little bit extra
Brekeriet - Vild Rips
A rich and tart sour ale. Vild Rips from Brekeriet is an incredible barrel aged session sour ale with heaps of red currant flavour.
St Bernardus - ABT 12
The St.Bernardus Abt 12 is an Abbey ale brewed in the classic 'Quadrupel' style of Belgium's best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite.
Craftwork - Dark Lord Quad
This beer really is beast to brew, taking two mashes, and a 4 hour boil. then aged a year..
It's Craftwork's take on a classic Quad.
New New New - Mr. Wow
A Belgian Black IPA. Wow!
North End - Stout Varadero
Stout Varadero is the result of a collaboration with Wellington rum purveyors: Havana Bar. A dark, rich, warming oatmeal and rye stout aged on a blend of 3, 5, and 15 years old Ron Varadero rum barrel oak.
Electric Nurse - Dark Divinity
A rich American stout layered with a full coffee and dark chocolate profile
We really loved this mixed case - great mix of saisons and sours for me and malty biscuity beers for the husband. Perfect!
great service and product. can't fault
The thing I most love about Beer jerk cases is that you make choices that I never would so I get get to try all sorts of wonderful and sometimes strange concoctions. Great value, great mix!
