$50.00 NZD

The 2018 Brewers Guild Awards were held in Nelson recently with a number of great breweries and beers winning awards and being recognized in the industry. We happen to have a whole bunch of these winning beers in our shop. So we've put together this selection of 6 of the 2018 award winning beers for you to enjoy.

Duncan’s Brewing
| Pale Ale 5.6% - Gold Medal

As a homage to New Zealand/ American style pale ales, Duncan's pale ale marries the great combination of American hops and their grapefruit and citrus pine character, with New Zealand hops and their tropical floral notes.

McLeods | Black Sour Rye Ale 6.6% - Gold Medal

This beer is a black Saison that has been aged for over a year in former Pinot Noir barriques from Marlborough. Combined with a blend of brettanomyces and lactic acid cultures. Expect rich roasty aromas that lead to a bright lemony sourness and lingering earthiness. Layers of complexity.

North End Brewing | Visitation / Quadrupel 10.5% - Silver Medal

Behind the walls of several Belgian monasteries there exists a tradition of making strong, dark, rich, fruity beers packed with the flavours and aromas of dark sugar and dried fruit. The strongest of these are called Quadrupels. Visitation takes its name from the 'Our Lady of Lourdes' statue on the hill in Paraparaumu that was built in 1958 to commemorate the centenary of a visitation by the Virgin Mary.

Zeelandt | Jerry Rig / Helles 5% - Bronze Medal

Helles, a Golden Lager in a similar vein to Pilsner, but with a smoother, mellower finish was the end result.

Urbanaut | Copacabana / Brut IPA 7.1% - Bronze Medal

Emerging from the Northern California beer scene, the Brut IPA style is brewed and fermented so that no residual sugars remain in the beer, giving a light body and sparkling effervescence. If it weren’t for the intense aromas of fresh fruit salad with melon, mango, stone fruit and lemon tart, you'd swear you were drinking a fine champagne. Bone-dry and spritzy, this hugely aromatic Brut IPA will make you want to dust off the white tuxedo, bust out the hair spray and hit the dance floor... Its Carnival in a can!

Garage Project | Electric Dry Hop Acid Test / Sour Ale 4.2% - Bronze Medal

Kettle soured, and dry hopped with Ella, Wai-iti and Saphir hops the Acid Test delivers electric citrus sourness with an aromatic flavour burst of floral, grapefruit, lemon and spice.
