Extra Pale Ale (XPA) / Beer Style

An XPA (Extra Pale Ale) is a recent US style that sits somewhat in the no mans land between an American Pale Ale and an India Pale Ale. This style is a hop forward beer and generally 'bigger' than an APA but 'gentler' than an IPA. These are more generally referred to as part of the American Pale Ale style so we have reference the APA style guidelines below.

Wheat Beer / Beer Style

A traditional wheat-based ale originating in Southern Germany that is a specialty for summer consumption, but generally produced year-round. Also know as a Witbier, Weissbier, Weizenbier or Hefeweizen when unfiltered (bottle conditioned). Hefe means 'Yeast' in German.

Imperial Stout / Beer Style

An Imperial stout, also known as a Russian imperial stout or an imperial Russian stout, is a strong dark beer or stout in the style that was brewed in the 18th century by Thrale's brewery in London, England for export to the Baltic States and Imperial Russia. Imperial stouts have a high alcohol content, usually over 9% abv and have rich, deep, complex and frequently quite intense flavors.

Wheat Wine / Beer Style

American style wheat wines range from gold to deep amber and are brewed with 50% or more wheat malt. They have full body and high residual malty sweetness. Bitterness is moderate to low. Fruity-ester characters are often high and counterbalanced by complexity of alcohols and high alcohol content. Hop aroma and flavor are at low to medium levels.
