Imperial Stout / Beer Style
An Imperial stout, also known as a Russian imperial stout or an imperial Russian stout, is a strong dark beer or stout in the style that was brewed in the 18th century by Thrale's brewery in London, England for export to the Baltic States and Imperial Russia. Imperial stouts have a high alcohol content, usually over 9% abv and have rich, deep, complex and frequently quite intense flavors.
American Barley Wine / Beer Style
Usually the strongest ale offered by a brewery, and in recent years many commercial examples are now vintage-dated. Normally aged significantly prior to release. Often associated with the winter or holiday season.
